Commissioning and remediation works progress at Tyra
Esbjerg, 8 July 2024 – Since first gas was exported from the new Tyra facilities to Denmark in March 2024, the teams have been working diligently to resolve unforeseen technical occurrences which are impacting the production ramp-up. While work to remedy the malfunctioning equipment continues, the team is in parallel also focused on measures to add additional gas supplies to Denmark.
During April and May 2024, TotalEnergies EP Danmark A/S informed the gas market of the technical issues impacting the commissioning and ramp-up of the new facilities. Comprehensive investigations confirmed that the technical issues are related to a transformer delivering power to the Intermediate Pressure (IP) gas compressor. Repair works are ongoing, and it is expected that the remanufacturing of the equipment related to the IP compressor will be concluded in the coming weeks.
Commissioning of the new Tyra facilities continues. The hook-up and commissioning works on the Tyra West and Tyra satellite fields are successfully concluded. However, a technical issue has occurred with the Low Pressure (LP) compressor transformer on Tyra East. Immediate actions have been taken to remedy the impact and initiate repairs, and further investigation is being sought to understand the potential impact on the ramp-up to full capacity. All the teams and external suppliers are fully mobilized to remedy the situation.
As repair works progress, different options were explored to compensate the issues encountered on Tyra and being able to deliver gas to Denmark. The team is now implementing the necessary measures to safely restart production from the Harald field through Tyra as part of the commissioning of the Tyra hub within the coming days. The team will continue to investigate further options to deliver more production from the facilities.

The whole Tyra team has been working committedly to resolve the technical issues as fast as possible and have explored different options to deliver additional gas volumes to Denmark. With the necessary measures put in place, we are now able to partially resume Harald production to Denmark within the next few days. Our key priority remains to safely complete all remediation works and continue Tyra’s ramp-up to full capacity enabling Denmark to become a net exporter and self-sufficient in respect of gas,
